Vaarlogement Waterland - Broek in Waterland - Holland

The Waterland area is a protected nature reserve with extensive stretches of water, ideal for trips from 't Vaarlogement. There are beautiful old Dutch Zuiderzee towns within a radius of 10 km around Broek in Waterland, such as Edam, Monnickendam, Volendam and Marken.

Broek in Waterland lies only 10 minutes from the very centre of Amsterdam and is well connected to the city by 5 buslines (busride 10 - 15 min.). The old heart of the village of Broek consists of splendid wooden houses, build in the 17th and 18th century by wealthy merchants and farmers.
There are beautiful old characteristic Dutch "Zuiderzee"-towns within a radius of 10 km around Broek in Waterland, such as Edam, Volendam, Monnickendam and the island of Marken.

For hire for activities:

Silent electric boats, kayaks, Canadian canoes and bicycles can be rented at the premises. Please make reservations well in advance and ask for the various daytours and arrangements available.

Other activities:

  • Nearby 2 different walking tracks are marked troughout the fields (1 hour an 1,5 hrs.).

  • If ordered in advance bikes can be delivered at the house for ride to Edam, Volendam, Marken and Monnickendam.

  • At the Monnickendam recreation area "Hemmeland" with spacious playing grounds there are sandy beaches with free bathing in the Gouwzee - lake overlooking the island of Marken.

  • For riding tours through the region and Amsterdam an oldtimer bus can be ordered in advance.

  • City walking tours are possible in Amsterdam http://www.visitamsterdam.nl/ or in Monnickendam and the beautifull old village of Broek in Waterland. We can assist in making reservations.

  • Visit a real Dutch milking farm or cheese making farm. Both to be found close by.

  • Have a nice day on the sandy beaches on the Dutch coast of the North Sea, to be reached by bus or train.

  • Pay a visit to the famous van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmusem, the Stedelijk Museum (modern art), the impressive Nemo museum for youngsters, the Anne Frank House or e.g. a fabulous 18th century furnished and decorated 'grachtenhuis' (city house) on one of the beautiful canals like Museum van Loon.
